Whitewater intersections to close Friday for railroad upgrades
The Wisconsin and Southern Railroad will be placing new tracks alongside Whitewater’s existing train tracks Friday, May 31, for future installation.
Railroad staff will begin offloading tracks at Lima Center Friday morning and heading east. As the railroad approaches an intersection, it is anticipated that intersection will be closed for about 30 minutes while the tracks are offloaded through town.
Traffic may wish to wait or find a new route Friday afternoon at the following railroad crossings: Janesville Street, West Walworth Street, South Franklin Street, South Tripp Street, South Fremont Street, South Second Street, Old Highway 12, Newcomb Street, Willard Street, East Main Street and Howard Road.
