Badger scored three goals in the second half and beat the Elks 4-2 Monday in a Southern Lakes Conference girls high school soccer match at Elkhorn.
The Elks lost 5-0 to Union Grove May 9 in a SLC match at Union Grove and beat Westosha Central 4-0 May 7 in a SLC match at Paddock Lake.
Badger led 1-0 at halftime. The Elks tied the match with second-half goals from Madison Frank and Skyler Harlan. Harlan’s goal came in the 53rd minute of regulation.
Brittany Gestrich scored her third goal of the match in the 54th minute to give Badger a 3-2 lead. Badger added an insurance goal in the 71st minute.
Elks coach BZ Kayser said Union Grove is one of the better sides he’s seen, which goes lengths to explain the lopsided score.
The Broncos are the defending SLC champions, and are ranked fourth in Division 2 in the latest Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll.
“They’re really good,” Kayser said. “They’re one of the better girls teams I’ve seen in a while.”
Kayser said the match against Central turned physical, and praised the play of Frank.
“We did score a couple of nice goals,” Kayser said. “It was a physical game, and they were very physical.”
Frank scored three goals. Sareni Huerta scored a goal and tallied an assist.
