In conjunction with the Kids Around the World OneMeal program, Calvary Community Church is hosting a food packaging effort on Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving.
“Pack Friday has been intentionally set on a date that reminds us we can take from our excess to give to desperately hungry children around the world. Instead of a day to get, make it a day to give… Your time – your finances – or both,” a press release states.
The Pack Friday goal is to pack 100,000 meals and raise the $25,000 necessary to pay for them. Anyone interested is encouraged to sign up and can do so online at bit.ly/foodpackfriday.
Three packing shifts will be offered: 10 a.m., noon and
2 p.m.
People wanting to help but unavailable to pack that day can make a financial contribution. Every box contains 216 meals, so to reach the 100,000 meals, participants will pack 463 boxes, each one costing $54.
“Consider covering the cost of one or more boxes. Come as a family, come with a group, or come by yourself, but come for this rewarding opportunity to help Kids Around the World feed kids around the world,” the release states.
