Having Olympic-style fun

Prairie View Elementary School fourth-graders Carli Murphy and Lillian Hejdak have fun in the Double Luge event Feb. 21 when the fourth-grade classes celebrated the Olympic Games with games of their own as part of the school district’s Global Literacy Initiative. The four classes, taught by David Murphy, Katie Powers, Gina Whipp and Laura Sprunk, represented the European countries of Finland, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. During the opening ceremony, students took an Olympic Sportsmanship Oath to highlight the School District’s ideals of being Respectful, Responsible and Safe.
