Two girls basketball teams at the opposite ends of the spectrum met last week in Jefferson.
And it didn’t take long for the Eagles to force their will on the Trojans.
Jefferson improved to 13-1 in the Rock Valley Conference with a dominating 47-26 victory over the young Trojans, who fell to 4-13 overall and 1-13 in the RVC.
Entering play this week, Jefferson stat atop the RVC standings by a game over Big Foot (12-2), two games over Whitewater (11-3) and three games over McFarland (10-4) with four regular-season games remaining.
East Troy had been scheduled to host McFarland on Monday night, but that game was postponed because of a snowstorm that rolled through the area. The Trojans and Spartans met in the makeup game Tuesday night.
The Trojans’ nonconference contest scheduled for Tuesday against Milwaukee Marshall was cancelled.
Against Jefferson, the Trojans fell behind, 23-10, in the first half and couldn’t recover. Jefferson outscored East Troy, 24-16, in the final 18 minutes to cruise to the 21-point victory.
Mackenzie Lindow led the way with eight points, followed by Erin Rice with six and Addy Lomen with five.
