A 17-point halftime deficit proved too much for the Elks Jan. 12 in a Southern Lakes Conference girls high school basketball game at home against Wilmot. The Elks lost 55-42.
Elkhorn (5-6, 2-5 SLC) trailed the Panthers (8-5, 6-1 SLC) 32-15 at halftime. Coach Jeff Brown said the Elks cut Wilmot’s lead to six points at three different times in the second half. The Elks outscored the Panthers 27-23 in the second half.
“We’re not working hard to end the losing,” Brown said. “There has been progress, but the goal wasn’t reached.”
