Robert “Bob” R. Welch, 91, passed away peacefully at his Troy Center home on Jan. 10, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born in Troy Center on July 9, 1926, to Harold and Frieda (Kneiert) Welch.
Bob was a graduate of East Troy High School. He received his teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. He later continued his education there to receive a master’s degree.
He taught business education and coached several sports throughout his career at East Troy High School.
Bob married his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis Friemoth, on Dec. 12, 1959.
He loved baseball and in his younger years played for the Land O’Lakes league. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, gardening, and nature. After retiring he became an avid golfer.
Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was a life-long member of the Troy Center United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; children, Daniel Welch, Patty Schmidt (Dave Bartel), Sue (Randy) Condon; grandchildren, Brad and Amanda Condon; brother, Kenneth; nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers Catey, Janelle, and Laura for their loving care and support.
Service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Troy Center United Methodist Church on Briggs Street. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
A luncheon will follow the service.
