The Elkhorn Penguin Swim Team (above, photo courtesy of Erin Hansen) will host a swim fundraiser from noon to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12 at Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark at Grand Geneva, 7020 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva. The event is open to the public and costs $15 per person swimming; $5 per person for those not swimming and swimmers must be accompanied by an adult. The Elkhorn Penguins is a private, non-profit organization that offers year-round, competitive swimming whose goal is to provide children in the Elkhorn area an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. All of the coaches are members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, allowing them access to a comprehensive training and certification program. The non-profit club focuses on teaching swimmers the four competitive strokes, turn, relay exchanges and racing starts.
The next tryout will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the Elkhorn Area High School pool and is open to children ages 5 to 18 with the only requirement being the ability to swim one length of the pool without stopping in both the backstroke and freestyle with rhythmic breathing.
