Those who have thought about joining a 4-H program, but may not know enough about it are invited to an event sponsored by the Walworth County 4-H Club, where questions will be answered and families can see if 4-H is a good fit for them.
Back-to-4-H Night is set for Oct. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walworth County Fairgrounds Activity Center (southeast corner of the fairgrounds) in Elkhorn.
The open house style event will offer parents and children the opportunity to sample 4-H through a variety of hands-on activities related to arts and crafts, food preservation, robotics, wildlife, international explorations, and more. They will also be able to meet some new animal friends, including rabbits, cavies, poultry, cats, and even a horse. Attendees can even test their aim and learn about 4-H shooting sports opportunities.
Along the way, those that stop by will be able to meet youth and adults who are already a part of the 4-H program and will be available to share with guests the fun, friends, projects, meetings and more that 4-H offers.
Participation at the Oct. 5 event is free. Pre-registration is not required, however, the first 20 families that pre-register by Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. will receive a special participation prize at the door.
For more information, or to register, call the Walworth County UW-Extension Office at (262) 741-4951.
