For a couple days of fun for the entire family, one only needs to trek to Babe Mann Park in Elkhorn this weekend and take in the Community Days event.
Attendees are asked to bring along a donation of a gently used blanket that will be given to animals at Lakeland Animal Shelter waiting for their forever homes.
The festivities kicked off Friday, with a performance by the LAS Water Ski Team (Lauderdale Aqua Skiers) on Elkhorn Lake at the park. At 7 p.m. Friday Hobie & the Leftovers will perform live.
Throughout the two-day event a variety of food trucks will be on-site as well as a beer tent will offer food and drinks for purchase.
The 3rd Annual Pride & Joy Car Show will get rolling at 11 a.m. in and around Babe Mann Park. It’s open to all makes and models and a dash plaque will be given to the first 75 cars. There is no fee to enter but donations for the Elkhorn Food Pantry are encouraged.
There will be an adaptive water skiing event Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis, permitted the weather cooperates. It will offer individuals with mobility, visual or other impairments the chance to experience water sports with assistance from the LAS Water Ski Team for $7 a person. Registration and waivers can be completed on-site.
Numerous local groups will offer free performances through a variety of community activities Saturday and there will be bounce houses for the kids.
At 5:30 p.m., Saturday, the LAS Water Ski Team will perform again followed by the movie “The Secret Life of Pets” showing at 8:45 p.m., sponsored by Video-N-Game Gallery of Elkhorn. Moviegoers are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
Babe Mann Park, 951 Proctor Dr., Elkhorn, features 34 acres of land surrounding Elkhorn Lake, and is only a short drive through the Elkhorn Business Park.
