EAHS teacher one of several to attend seminar
Elkhorn Area High School was one of several area schools to have a Tech Ed teacher attend a Gateway Technical College seminar on Snap-on torque wrenches use training, and then receive wrenches as a donation.
Carl Bjorge, of EAHS, participated in the event, which was intended to help teachers throughout the area provide training to students that will help them successfully enter their chosen career or college program.
The workshop, titled a “Train-the-Trainer,” has college instructors train high school teachers to better train their students.
The session, which was at Gateway’s Horizon Center for Transportation Technology in Kenosha, provided nationally-certified instruction on Snap-on torque wrenches.
Two torque tools were then donated to each of the schools with staff members participating in the workshop so the technical knowledge gained can be used immediately in the classroom.

Gateway automotive technology instructor and NC3 coordinator Matt Janisin received a college President’s Innovation grant to make the seminar possible.
Gateway also has a new Mobile Lab/Certification truck that can go to area schools and provide students with hands-on activities in a number of areas, according to Janisin.
