The Elkhorn community will participate in the statewide Open House event Saturday for the second year.
The event has nearly doubled in size, featuring 150 unique venues in more than 20 communities for 2017. These venues, many of which are typically closed to the public, is open free of charge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Elkhorn.
This year’s event coincides both with National History Month and Wisconsin’s Creative Economy Week, highlighting the diverse historic and creative heritage in the state. Around Wisconsin, visitors can enjoy guided tours, historical reenactments, educational seminars, musical acts and much more.
Featured activities in Elkhorn include walking tours, live music, wine & beer tasting, specials from Wilson Farm Meats, Bernies, Someplace Else, Sperinos, Little Miss Sweat Peas Farm Market, Friends on the Square, Slingshot rides from A+ Sports, food & prizes, and tickets available for sale from Sprague Theater.
The event is designed to be a family-friendly event, suitable for all ages. Whether visitors are looking to explore new parts of their own community or discover something new, this event offers a wide variety of options.
Elkhorn’s featured sites include: Walworth County Performing Arts Center, Depot Lane Storage, First Congregational United Church, Highway 43 Self Storage, Walworth County Historical Society (the Doris. M. Reinke Resource Center, Heritage Hall and Webster House), and the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce.
