The Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale’s final concert, Faure Requiem and Rutter Mass of Children, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6 in the Elkhorn Area High School auditorium.
Conducted by Richard Severing, the concert will feature soloists Marie Severing, soprano, and Brian Leeper, tenor.
The board – Steven Geisler, Mararet Gregg, Nora Karbash, Charmane Kolmos and Susan Olsen – of the Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale is announcing the final concert after 32 years of singing together.
The chorale is “deeply indebted to the founder and director, Richard Severing, for giving us the opportunity to sing many challenging masterpieces with accomplished soloists and orchestras. We came together from surrounding communities and varied professions all for the love of singing,” according to a press release.
Many members were former students of Richard Severing from Delavan-Darien High School, along with teachers, farmers and bankers to name just a few. Severing brought generations together, from teenagers to 90-year olds for a common purpose, love of music.
“We would be remiss if we didn’t also mention his (Richard’s) wife, Marie who has been a favorite soprano soloist in many of our concerts and who has directed us this past year,” the release states.
In appreciation to the people who have supported the choir over the years, tickets for the May 6 concert have been reduced to $5. To purchase tickets call (608) 741-5074.
