The Village of East Troy recently added four video tours of East Troy to its webpage, easttroywi.gov.
The videos, produced by CGI Communications Inc., at no cost to the village are: Welcome, Quality of Life, Attractions and Community Organizations.
“The fourth video, Community Organizations, is basically a marketing video for CGI to entice businesses and organizations to consider using this company to promote them,” East Troy Village Board President Randy Timms said.
The other three videos were filmed in East Troy about four or five months ago, Timms said.
“Eileen (Suhm, village administrator) and I worked with CGI and we created an outline of a script of where we should shoot and they hired a videographer to come in,” Timm said. “He showed up and I asked him where he wanted to go and he said it was our show, so we should tell him.
“Basically I became the director and we went around and interviews people and I directed him all day long for about a day in a half.”
Timms said they heard about CGI after it had done some promotional videos for Walworth County a few years back.
“It’s an economic development tool really,” he said. “When someone is investigating East Troy, whether it’s to move here, a business or someone who wants to take a vacation, this can help them see what we have to offer.
Timms said the videos were free to the village because CGI makes its money off of advertising for the videos. He said he would like to see some of the area businesses take advantage of that.
“I would hope some of the businesses in the area would find some value in it and jump right in,” he said.
