Wrestlers fifth at invite

The East Troy wrestling squad defeated South Milwaukee 45-25 for its only win at Saturday’s Burlington Tournament.

The Trojans dropped decisions of 42-30 to Fort Atkinson, 58-18 to Oak Creek, 54-24 to Port Washington and 54-30 to Burlington.

Oak Creek won the team title, followed by Fort Atkinson, Burlington, Port Washington, East Troy and South Milwaukee.

Chris Storandt (195) was 5-0, while Chase Coleman (152), Tommy Larson (106) and Joe Moede (126) each were 4-1 to lead the Trojans.

Coleman currently is ranked sixth in Division 2 by Crossface Magazine, Larson is ninth and Moede is honorable mention.

Also picking up victories were Jacob Mast (285), 3-2; Kaleb Curler (120) and Mason Orgas (126), 1-4.

East Troy opened its week with a 40-30 nonconference loss Jan. 5 at New Berlin West.

Collecting victories were Moede (126), 6-4; Coleman (152), by pin in 3:29; Mast (285), by pin in 2:50; Larson (106), by pin in 1:45; A.J. Hall (113), 8-7; and Curler (120), by pin in 4:32.

Dropping matches were John Veselka (138), by major decision 15-6; Jackson Dedick (145), by sudden victory, 8-6; Victor Chapman (160), by pin in 49 seconds; Austin Pogreba (170), by pin in 1:33; Jacob Price (182), by pin in 1:23; and Storandt (195), 7-3.

East Troy also forfeited matches at 132 and 220 pounds.
