While most of the candidates for the local seats in the tri-Troy area are running unopposed in the Spring Election, it’s the Village of East Troy that is the exception.
Village Board President Randy Timms is being challenged by Trustee Scott Seager this time around.
There are also five candidates for the three open Village Board seats held by Scott Seager, Fred Douglass and Dusty Stanford, who all filed papers to run for another term. Newcomers John Jacoby and Alex Alger join them to vie for the trustee positions.
Village Administrator Eileen Suhm said should Seager be elected to both the trustee and president seats, he will have the option of choosing which seat he will fill and then the Village Board will appoint someone to fill the vacant seat.
Village Board terms, including the position of president, are for two years.
In the Town of East Troy, Town Board Chairman Joseph Klarkowski and Supervisors Clayton Montez and Barbara Church have no challengers.
It’s the same situation in the Town of Troy with Town Board Chairman John Kendall and Supervisors Thomas Lorden and Kathleen Tober all running unopposed.
Both the town boards have two year terms.
East Troy Community School District board member Steve Lambrechts is also running unopposed. School Board terms are three years.
Primary needed
While a primary election isn’t necessary for any of the tri-Troy area races, there will be a primary election of Feb. 21 for the state office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Incumbent Tony Evers, who’s been the superintendent of the DPI since 2009, is being challenged by Lowell Holtz and John Humphries.
Holtz is a former superintendent of the Beloit School District.
Humphries is a former administrator of the Dodgeville School District.
