New skills can be mastered at 4-H Kids’ College

An event designed to give Walworth County youth the opportunity to think, do and create will be held at the Walworth County Government Center.

The event, the 4-H Kids’ College 2017 will be on Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Any kids are invited to participate whether they are enrolled in 4-H or not.

Each youth may choose up to three sessions about different topics like crafts, painting, card making, miniature gardens, rabbit education, recycled art, rocketry, cake decorating, theater, cooking, Harry Potter fun, wildlife, scale models, science experiments, storytelling, community service, paper beading and cartooning. Some classes have a material fee, but many are free. Hot lunch, prepared by the 4-H Out-of-State Exchange, will be available for purchase at the event for $5.

Cloverbud, the members who are in kindergarten and grades one and two, are invited to participate in their own Cloverbud adventure class. This workshop has engaged 4-H’s youngest members engaged with a variety of interactive activities. Some activities inspire creativity, some awaken kids’ taste buds, some connect them to nature and some just use up their energy. Adult leaders and members of the Walworth County 4-H Junior Leaders’ Association will lead the cloverbuds through their many activities during the day.

Registration ends on Jan. 13 at 4:30 p.m. Classes are filled on a first come-first serve basis.

The Walworth County Government Center is at 100 W. Walworth St. in Elkhorn.

4-H is a UW-Extension Youth Development program. Membership is open to all youth in grades 5K-12.
