The East Troy Village Board approved Aug. 1 an electronic recycling day for residents from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the sewer plant.
Department of Public Works Interim Director Jason Equitz said he would like to hold the event at the East Troy wastewater treatment plant because the recycling bin can be locked up overnight to prevent drop offs after hours.
The board discussed holding future e-cycling events in conjunction with the towns of East Troy and Troy. With a possible rotating schedule between the municipalities throughout the year where all tri-Troy residents could utilize the recycling opportunities.
Village Administrator said an arrangement like that could be made in the future, if all municipalities wanted, but the waste disposal contracts for the municipalities would most likely need to be changed to allow for it as the current contract(s) did not.
In other business Aug. 1, the Village Board:
- Considered recommendations from the East Troy Community Development Alliance on how to streamline and improve the construction/renovation process for homeowners and businesses in the village;
- Discussed expanding the village’s sidewalk network and how to prioritize the areas being considered after Equitz requested direction on what areas to price out next. The board members instructed Equitz to get prices on extending the sidewalk along Highway ES from the square to the Shell station; running the sidewalk up to the Honey Creek apartments, and extending the sidewalk along Highway ES from Gus’s Drive-In, which will be done later this year, all the way up to the grocery store. Once they know the costs, the board will begin to prioritize the projects.
- Approved a Temporary Class B liquor license for St. Peter’s Fall Festival on Oct. 1 and 2.
