Student projects focused on various safety concerns and tips
In a partnership between Sharon Community School and Exacto Inc., students at Sharon Community School were recently recognized for taking on safety concerns.
With June being National Safety Month, Exacto Inc. Marketing Specialist Lauren Marx said the company reached out to the school to create a contest for students in third through eighth grade. She said students were invited to create a poster illustrating safety concerns, tips and awareness.
Marx said 44 students submitted posters, which were then displayed in the company’s offices at 200 Old Factory Rd., in Sharon. She said Exacto associates were asked to judge the submissions, selecting first, second and third place winners in three age groups.
The winning artists were recognized during an assembly at Sharon Community School June 8, with awards being presented by Exacto Human Resources Manager Donna Fortune and Exacto CEO Diana Braun.
Winners in the three age groups and the focus of their posters included:
Third and fourth grades
- First place – Kadin Rambatt, tornado safety;
- Second place – John Rambatt, bullying; and
- Third place – Zeke Hardt, sport safety.
Fifth and sixth grades
- First place – Dejanira Ortiz, fire safety;
- Second place – Karen Carbajal-Mercado, don’t text and drive; and
- Third place – Morgan Rego, chemical safety.
Seventh and eighth grades
- First place – Lauren Miller, internet safety;
- Second place – Odalys Olague, fire safety; and
- Third place – Lindsay Paulsen, chemical safety.
