The Whitewater High School softball team played four games this past week, including a double-header against East Troy. All four games were at home and the Whippets entered the week 1-3 heading into the game against McFarland on April 14 at home.
The two teams played just two days prior and McFarland bested the Whippets, 15-0. Not much changed in the game on April 14, as McFarland won, 21-0. McFarland opened up the game by scoring nine runs in the first inning.
The game lasted four innings total and Whitewater recorded one hit. Eight different McFarland batters recorded at least one RBI in the game.
Two days later, the Whippets faced East Troy in a double-header and in the first game, the team ended up recording 10 hits and scoring five runs but allowed 11 runs as well. Four Whippet hitters recorded at least two hits in the first game.
In the second game of the double-header, the Whippets put together eight hits and six runs offensively but committed eight errors defensively. East Troy capitalized and scored seven runs, earning the win.
Sage Babcock had three hits in the game and Sara Johnson scored two runs. Johnson also pitched in the game and allowed four earned runs of the seven total scored against her. She struck out five batters and walked four as well.
On April 19, the team hosted Beloit Turner and lost, 11-3. No stats were available online at the date of publication.
The Whippets are now 1-7 this season and are currently on a five-game losing streak. The team’s next game is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. on April 21 against Brodhead at Brodhead High School. Brodhead is 0-5 this season.
