Users of social media identified a Milwaukee man suspected of holding up the Speedway station in Delavan last week.

Police Chief Tim O’Neill said a man entered the store at 803 E. Geneva St. at about 4:55 p.m. March 30, displayed a small handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The man fled with cash, but O’Neill said several surveillance cameras from the store and other businesses captured images of the man.

The Delavan Police Department posted pictures on Facebook, and users identified the suspect as a 22-year-old Milwaukee man.

“We certainly appreciate the wonderful cooperation that we get from the public,” O’Neill said

He declined to release the man’s name until a Walworth County Circuit Court judge signed a warrant for his arrest, which was expected to happen early this week.
