Annual W3llfest event Sunday in Whitewater

The 5th annual W3llfest will take place from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 13 at Whitewater High School, 534 S. Elizabeth St. in Whitewater. The event is hosted by Working for Whitewater’s Wellness, also known as W3.

There is no cost to attend and the afternoon will feature a wide variety of free wellness opportunities. W3llfest will include: yoga, Zumba, boot camp, and T’ai Chi classes; information about the best cbd suppliers UK, healthy eating tips and gardening classes; cooking demonstrations by local chefs, health screenings and several fun activities appropriate for the whole family.

Numerous items will be given away during the event, from free healthy snacks courtesy of local restaurants to prizes such as FitBits, Milwaukee Brewer’s tickets, fitness memberships, spa treatments and more – all geared to help people be their healthiest. Door prizes will be awarded at 3:45 p.m. in the main gym. Prize tickets must be turned in by 3:45 p.m. and you must be present to win.

Visitors are invited to stay during the entire three-hour event or drop by as their schedules allow. Be sure to visit the multi-purpose room featuring healthy snack samples, smoothies from The SweetSpot Café and a variety of food Try-It Tables sponsored by W3.

Children will have opportunities to participate in fun activities including seed planting, face painting, decorating a chef’s hat and an indoor obstacle course. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater education students will provide free childcare at the event in rooms 101 to 103.

 

 

Schedule of events

W3 strives to increase life expectancy and quality of life for those in the Whitewater community through health and wellness education, promotion and outreach. At W3llfest that includes offering a wide range of classes, sessions and demonstrations.

Below is a complete list of the offerings at W3llfest:

Fitness classes (in the small gym at the high school):

  • 1-1:30 p.m., yoga with Brienne Diebolt-Brown;
  • 1:45-2:15 p.m., Tabata Boot Camp with Sam Gnatzig;
  • 2:30-3 p.m., T’ai Chi with Jim Bayer;
  • 3:15-3:45 p.m., Zumba with Colleen Mendez

Learning sessions (In rooms 132 or 134, as listed below):

  • 1-1:30 and 1:45-2:15 p.m., Personal Safety and Situational Awareness (Room 134) with Whitewater Police Officer Justin Stuppy;
  • 2:30-3 and 3:15 -3:45 p.m., Canine Unit Discussion and Demonstration (Room 134) with Walworth County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Bob Wierenga;
  • 1-1:30 p.m., Financial Wellness (Room 132) with Wes Enterline who will share a personal story and resources;
  • 1:45-2:15 p.m., The Happy Secret (Room 132) with Rich Jazdzewski, director of UW-Whitewater Health and Counseling Services;
  • 2:30-3 p.m., Get Moving: Goal Setting Workshop (Room 132) with Sasha Karnes, UW-Whitewater Psychology Professor;
  • 3:15-3:45 p.m., Lifestyle Changes – One Day at a Time (Room 132) with Nicole Miller, CPT and Holistic Health Coach.

Healthy Cooking (demonstrations in Room 245):

  • 2-2:45 p.m., Chef Jason Dunn, and instructor and personal chef;
  • 3-3:45 p.m., Chef Tyler Salisbury of The Black Sheep Restaurant.
