A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 14 for a Burlington man and a Whitewater man allegedly found with marijuana, psilocybin mushroom, and prescription drugs in Whitewater. It has not been said if they have retained a drug offense attorney individually yet but they may need to with a lot of evidence stacked against them.
Johnny C. Coggon, 26, of Burlington, was charged March 2 in Walworth County Circuit Court with possession with intent to deliver psilocin, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of narcotic drugs, all second and subsequent offenses; and possession of drug paraphernalia as a repeater.
Michael R. Dekraai, 33, of Whitewater, was charged March 2 with possession with intent to deliver psilocin and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, both second and subsequent offense; three counts of felony bail jumping; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the criminal complaint, Dekraai was the driver and Coggon was a passenger in a car that was pulled over on North Easterly Avenue in whitewater on Feb. 25 after Dekraai was seen not wearing his seatbelt. The officer smelled marijuana, and saw a sandwich bag of suspected marijuana in Dekraai’s jacket pocket and in the glove compartment when Dekraai was retrieving his proof of insurance, according to the complaint.
A K-9 unit was bought in, and the car was searched. Three backpacks that contained drugs were found in the car. The individual bags of marijuana on Dekraai’s person weighed 3 grams and 1.3 grams, and three bags of marijuana in Dekraai’s backpack weighed 4.6 grams, 9.2 grams and 16.8 grams respectively, according to the complaint. Dekraai also had 13.9 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and was under bond condition on Racine County charges of marijuana possession and 12 other charges including disorderly conduct, battery, bail jumping, strangulation and suffocation and resisting or obstructing an officer.
In Coggon’s backpacks, police found 22 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 16.9 grams of marijuana, 10 pills of Vicodin, a digital scale and a smoking device, according to the complaint. Coggon has been convicted of marijuana possession in Racine County and theft in Walworth County.
A second passenger, Dylan J.M. Henze, of Whitewater, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
