The Elkhorn Area High School gymnastics team lost a close one Feb. 2 at home. Whitewater beat the Elks 119.775-113-800 in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet.

Elkhorn competes Saturday in an invitational at Whitefish Bay High School, and travels to Janesville Parker Feb. 16 for a non-conference dual meet.

“The meet against Whitewater was our Senior Night,” Elks assistant coach Amanda Lockhart said. “It was bittersweet for our seniors – Ronni, Madison, and Jasmin.”

The Elks honored seniors Ronica Fuller, Madison Neinfeldt and Jasmin Valdez in the meet against the Whippets.

Whitewater’s Kelly O’Hara won every event against the Elks. O’Hara scored 9.0 in the vault, 8.55 on the uneven bars, 8.95 on the balance beam and 9.425 in the floor exercise. O’Hara won the all-around with a combined score of 35.925.

Neinfeldt finished second in the all-around (28.650) and Fuller third (28.475).

Cameron Jacobson led the Elks with an 8.2 in the floor exercise and finished second. Fuller and Haley Mogensen tied for third (8.0). Neinfeldt finished sixth (7.575). Lockhart said the Elks are showing continued improvement with their floor exercises.

Jacobson also finished second on beam (7.4). Mogensen finished fourth (7.15) and Fuller sixth (6.75).

Neinfeldt finished second on the uneven bars (7.2) and Jacobson finished third (7.05). Fuller finished sixth (5.675).

Fuller finished second with an 8.050 and led the Elks in the vault. Neinfeldt finished third (7.9).

“The girls continue to work hard and we still have a lot of room to improve, especially going into conference and sectionals,” Lockhart said.
