The Big Foot girls basketball team is on a roll.

Big Foot won its ninth straight game Tuesday night with a dominating 80-64 non-conference win over visiting Southern Lakes Conference foe Delavan-Darien.

The win improved the Chiefs to 14-4 overall. Big Foot takes a 10-2 Rock Valley Conference record into a key home game Thursday night against Brodhead-Juda.

Brodhead, which beat the Chiefs in the first meeting earlier this year, leads the RVC South Division by a game at 11-1.

Big Foot on Tuesday held a slim 33-29 lead over the Comets after the first 18 minutes before it put the game away with a strong second half.

The Chiefs outscored Delavan 47-35 in the final 18 minutes to cruise to the 16-point win.

Morgan Courier led a balanced scoring attack with 23 points and four assists, followed by Olivia Briggs with 14 points and seven steals. Payton Courier added 14 points, while Courtney Schoenbeck had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Brooke Wellhausen grabbed eight rebounds and had six steals.

The win Tuesday came on the heels of an easy 33-point RVC win Jan. 29 over host Parkview.

Big Foot never was threatened in the 76-43 decision, as it led 36-16 at halftime and outscored the Vikings 40-27 in the second half.

Another balanced attack keyed the Chiefs, as Briggs led four scorers in double digits with 21 points and eight rebounds. Morgan Courier added 15 points, six steals and five assists, followed by Schoenbeck with 14 points and 12 rebounds, Payton Courier with 10 points and Wellhausen with eight rebounds.

Following Thursday’s game with Brodhead, the Chiefs will host Clinton next Tuesday, Feb. 9, in a 7:15 p.m. RVC matchup.

Trojans race out fast

Visiting East Troy, which last week scored 118 points, put 48 on the scoreboard in the first half Tuesday night and never looked back in a 90-52 RVC win over Big Foot.

The Chiefs fell to 6-10 overall and 4-7 in the RVC.

Michael Goralski led the way with 13 points, followed by Beau Cary with 12. Zak Greco and Chucky Rohner added five points apiece.

Earlier in the week, Big Foot held a five-point halftime lead at McFarland, but couldn’t make it stand up in a 75-70 RVC setback.

Greco had a team-high 24 points, four rebounds and three assists, followed by Cary with eight points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Michael Heidenreich added seven points and four rebounds, followed by Mark Schauf with seven points and seven rebounds and Logan Eischeid with seven points and six rebounds.

Goralski had a team-high four assists.

Big Foot is back in action Friday night against visiting Parkview.

Wrestlers fall

Big Foot’s only win Jan. 28 came at 170 pounds, as the Chiefs fell 58-6 at Shoreland Lutheran.

Ethan Michael accounted for the Chiefs’ lone points, as he pinned Austin Tejeda in 1:02.

Dropping matches to the Pacers were Rodney Flom (152), Ethan Roland (182), Nick Freymiller (285), Travis Berryman (120) and Titus Fredericks (126).

Big Foot also lost by forfeit at 145, 220, 113, 132 and 138 pounds. Both teams forfeited at 160 and 106.

The Chiefs travel to Edgerton Saturday to compete in the RVC Meet.
