Christine M. Toynton, 101, of Walworth, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 9, 2016, at Golden Years Health Care Center in Walworth.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in St. Joseph Township, Minn., the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Bohmer) Mathies. She married Francis H. Toynton, July 6, 1936, in Genoa City. He preceded her in death in April 1992.
Christine and Fran owned and operated Toynton Walworth Funeral Home from 1941 until selling the business to their son, Addison, and Barbara Toynton in 1977. She attended Immanuel United Church in Walworth and was a member of Order of Eastern Star. Christine’s passions were shoveling snow, ice fishing on Delavan Lake, Lake Geneva and Big St. Germain Lake in St. Germain.
She was survived by one son, Addison (Barb); two grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Fullerton, of Hartland, and Aaron (Gina) Toynton, of Sarasota Fla.; three great grandchildren, Kendall and Addison Fullerton and Augustus Francis Toynton; one brother, Wendell Mathies, of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; a son, Timothy; five sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home in Walworth. Burial will follow at Walworth Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Toynton Walworth Funeral Home.
