Howard “Howie” Kegel, 72, of East Troy, died Oct 8, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Albert and Fay (Kray) Kegel on Oct. 30, 1942 in Appleton.
He was raised and attended school in Suring. He married Patricia W. Pik on April 19, 1969, in Milwaukee.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 7501 of East Troy.
In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wine making and gardening. Being the family “Handyman” he was known to spend time tinkering in the garage on his various projects.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling with the Wisconsin Voyagers RV Group and belonged to the Walworth County Bee Club.
During his working years, he made an impression on many apprentices mentoring them on the tool and die trade.
Survivors include his wife; children, Christopher (Elizabeth), Racine, Angela (Corey) Wampole, Waukesha, Aaron (Melody), Indiana, Brian (Vicki), Big Bend, and David (Jessica), Washington; mother, Green Bay; four brothers, twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one on the way. Other relatives and many friends also survive him.
His father preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at Legacy Funeral Services, 2974 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at St Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
