Trojans shut out Whitewater, 28-0

Another week, another strong effort by the East Troy High School football team.
Now the Trojans just have to keep things rolling.
East Troy broke open a scoreless game Friday night with 28 unanswered points in a dominating 28-0 Rock Valley Conference victory over Whitewater.
The win, East Troy’s second straight, improved it to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the RVC.
As usually is the case with a successful outing, everyone had a part in the victory, East Troy coach Eric Sulik said.
“We did a lot of good things in all three phases and played physical,” he said. “We had our best week of practice so far this season.”
Ryan Olsen put the Trojans on the scoreboard with a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
The touchdown was Olsen’s sixth of the season.
“Ryan is a physical runner and has had some big games for us,” Sulik said. “Our offense is balanced due to our ability to run block and Ryan’s ability to gain yards.
“Ryan hasn’t played a defensive snap since week one, which I believe has helped keep him fresh for offense.”
Sulik also applauded the efforts of the offensive line, including seniors Zach Brinkman, Kyle Storandt and Nick Biersack.
East Troy led 7-0 at halftime and salted things away with two third-quarter touchdowns by Owen Goedland.
Goedland scored on runs of three and six yards to put the Trojans firmly in command.
“When Ryan went out, Owen was called upon to play running back,” Sulik said. “He’s fast and a physical runner who answers the bell. I don’t have video on all our RVC conference teams, but I don’t think you will find a better one-two punch at running back in our conference.:”
East Troy ended the scoring on a 2-yard run by Zach Zewiske in the fourth quarter.

McFarland up next
East Troy looks for its third straight win tonight when it hosts McFarland at 7 p.m. The Spartans fell to 0-5 last week with a 6-0 loss at Edgerton.
Sulik hopes to see his team continue the momentum.
“We are improving week to week,” he said. “I still feel our best football is ahead of us.”
While the Spartans are still winless, that doesn’t mean the Trojans can look past them, Sulik said.
“McFarland has a new offensive scheme, which poses a different challenge,” he said. “They are still looking for their first win this fall, and I’m sure they’ll be ready when they travel to our place.”
