Megan Leahy and Taylor Mair each won two events May 12 and helped lead the Elkhorn Area High School girls’ track team to a first-place finish in the Walworth County Invitational at Elkhorn High School.

Tyler Daehn won the long jump and Tim Crum finished second in two events and lead the Elkhorn boys to a third-place finish behind East Troy and Badger.

“We were really excited that both the boys and girls ran as well as they did coming off of Tider,” Elks coach Steve Simonson said. “Although I felt we ran tired, we gave a great effort, and were able to achieve some fine individual and team results.”

The Elkhorn girls finished third and the boys eighth May 8 in the Tider Invitational at Edgerton High School.

The Elkhorn girls scored a team total of 198 points at the Walworth County Invite, and the boys scored 145.5.

Simonson said Leahy turned in the most impressive night of any Elk at the Walworth County Invite.

Leahy tied the Elks’ school record in the pole vault with a first-place effort of 9 feet, six inches and also won the triple jump (34-00.50).

Mair finished first in the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 46.60 seconds and 3,200 (12:36.00).

Maddie Barlow won the 400 (1:05.25) in what Simonson called “a nice comeback.” Freshman Leesa Sesing led wire to wire and won the 300 hurdles (55.87).

Simonson said Victoria Brossard broke 100 feet for the first time and won the discus (100-10).

Leesa Sesing, Barlow, Natalie Sesing and Gabby Pinnow finished second in the 4×400 relay (4:25.30) and Leesa Sesing, Pinnow, Amanda Robers and Bethany Buikema finished second in the 4×800 relay (10:39.20).

Sarah Broga finished second in the 300 hurdles (57.69) and Jessica Reiff finished second in the pole vault (9 feet). Buikema finished second in the 800 (2:30.70) and Natalie Sesing finished second in the 200 (28.82).
