Melvin T. Welch, 87, died at home on April 9, 2015.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Fairfield. He operated a construction business in Delavan for many years and retired to Neshkoro in 1997. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 6th Armored Division Signal Corp from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen; four children, Debra (Geff) Sawtelle, of Neshkoro, Curtis Welch, of Delavan, Karla (Alex) Larsen, of Darien, Sharon Welch (Jeff Roberts), of Delavan; three grandchildren, Heather (Tyler) Gohlke, of Neshkoro, Kalan Welch and Hayden Emmerich, both of Delevan; three great grandchildren; a brother, George Welch Jr., of Elkhorn; a sister, Laura Enright, of Delavan; two sisters-in-law, Faye (Sterling) Zweifel, of Delavan, and Virginia Terrence, of Sterling, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Family and friends will gather will take place at a later date. Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma is assisting the family.
