Local coach is keynote speaker
Mercy Foundation will present awards to two high school students from each Walworth County high school at its Day of Difference event at 8 a.m. April 15, at the Geneva National Golf Course in Lake Geneva.
Recognition will be awarded to a boy and a girl from each school who is making a difference in Walworth County by giving time, talents and financial resources to help less fortunate people.
Pat Miller, head coach of the UW-Whitewater Warhawks basketball team, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. In 13 seasons as the men’s head coach, Miller has a winning percentage of .778 (291-83) and ranks 12th all-time, among all National Collegiate Athletic Association divisions. A four-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, he has led the Warhawks to two NCAA Division III championships in the past three seasons.
The event is organized by Mercy Foundation and sponsored by Calvary Community Church, Geneva National Foundation and Walworth State Bank to recognize and honor area students who demonstrate the art of making a difference in their communities.
Students are chosen by their school principals. Event tickets are $10.
