JACK BERNAU

John “Jack” Bernau Jr., 73, the son of John “Jack Sr.” and Stephanie (Zielinski) Bernau, died April 3, 2015.

He was born Dec. 28, 1941, in Elkhorn. He was saved on Aug. 29, 1973, and he went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2015, at his home.

He taught at Houston R-IV Schools from 1985 through 2006. He was a graduate of Wisconsin State University in Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Keith Bernau in April 1983. He is survived by his sister, Terri (Dave) Kropetz, and his brother, Brent Bernau (Paul), and foster sister, Darlene Katzman.

Jack married Claudia (Wolter) on Nov. 10, 1963, in Albuquerque, N.M. They have resided in Cabool, Mo., since 1976. They have three children, Rosalind “Rosie” (Scott) Bumgardner of Ohio, Cynthia (Mark) Walker of Indiana, and Sheldon (Lisa) Bernau of Florida, and seven grandchildren.

Jack was self-employed most of his life. In addition to teaching, he painted barn roofs for families in Texas and Wright counties.
