Muriel Jean (Campbell) Tully, 90, of Elkhorn, died peacefully on Feb. 17, 2015.
Jean was born on July 1, 1924, to the late Frank and Irene Campbell. She grew up in Conneaut, Ohio, and spent her childhood summers on the shores of Lake Erie. She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1942 and attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.
Jean married her high school sweetheart, the late Dr. Richard Eugene Tully on July 17, 1945. They moved to Elkhorn in 1951 where they raised their family and remained happily married for 68 years. Jean’s life was devoted to her family. She enjoyed family ski vacations in Colorado and northern Wisconsin. She enjoyed spending summers on Lake Michigan with her two children and later in life with her six adoring grandchildren. Jean will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her generous heart and sweet nature.
She is survived by her two children, Dr. Rick (Barb Grant) Tully and Susan (Robert) Leibsle; six grandchildren, Dr. Scott (Amanda) Leibsle, Elizabeth Leibsle, Eric (Kelly Bergmann) Leibsle, Julie (Mike) Hanson, Kate (Josh) Sherry and Hillary (Matthew) Connelly; four great-grandchildren, Finn Connelly, Allison Leibsle, Kate Connelly and Avery Hanson. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of 68 years, Richard; one sister, Mary Thompson; and niece Pamela Thompson.
A visitation to celebrate Jean’s life will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. Memorials can be made in Jean’s name to SMILES, N2666 County Road K, Darien. Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory of Elkhorn are assisting the family.
