William Henry Madden, 72, died peacefully at home, on Jan. 24, 2015.
He was born, June 7, 1942, in Chicago to James and Helen (Snyder) Madden. He married Deborah (Beetstra) Madden on Aug. 3, 2002, and resided in Walworth.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Madden (Sean) McMahon of Omaha, Neb.; stepchildren Mallory (Tom) Spiro, of Boston, Averey (Trevor Heath) Beetstra, of Denver, and Tanner Beetstra, of Menominee; grandchildren Ryan, Quinn, Drew, Lexington and Lennox; brothers James (Anna) Madden, Lake Geneva, David Madden, San Francisco; sisters Mary Bartusiak, Fort Myers, Fla., and Anne Madden, of Evanston, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was a very loving husband, father, brother and son. He was retired from real estate and most recently worked for Jones Bus Company and VIP Services in Elkhorn. Bill loved the Lake Geneva area. He was proud to call it home. He never dreamt that he would be living here full-time let alone on a farm. He was the quintessential city farmer – he loved the outdoors, but was not real fond of digging in the dirt. He will be missed for his quick wit, contagious laugh, kindness, generosity, political views, sports acumen, but, most importantly, his love.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Toynton Funeral Home in Walworth, and a funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Fontana. Memorials can be made to the Open Arms Free Clinic or family.
“Say not in grief, ‘He is no more,’ but live in thankfulness that he was”
