Evelyn Ruth Hensel, 90, of East Troy, died Jan. 4, 2015, in Elkhorn. She was born Sept 18, 1923, in Richfield, Ill.
She attended Burlington High School and was a CNA at Burlington hospital.
She married Donald Cha
rles Hensel on July 10, 1942, at St Peter’s Catholic Church, East Troy. She and Donald lived in Texas for 18 years until Don retired. They then traveled and toured the United States for a while, before returning and making a homestead in East Troy.
She loved to garden, being a farmer at heart.
Survivors include her children, Trudy Elfering and Terry Hensel; grandchildren, Bobbie (Steph) Abel, Billie (Nathan) Rich, Dereck (Zenaida) Hensel, Kim (Steve) Schultz and Tiffany (Kelly) Wilks; seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and one grandchild.
Her last selfless act was to donate her body to science.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 17, at Legacy Funeral Services, 2974 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
