There will be at least one local election that will require a primary on Feb. 17 for the 2015 Spring General Election.
East Troy Community School District Board of Education member Martha Bresler is running for re-election and as of Tuesday morning, had two challengers for the open board seat – Gina Dingman and Jody Heimos.
Deadline extended in Town of Troy
In the Town of Troy, Supervisor Ben Bourdo said Tuesday morning he was not seeking re-election, but had failed to file non-candidacy papers.
Town of Troy Clerk/Treasurer Michele Stute said the deadline for filing papers in the supervisor race has been extended to 5 p.m. today, because Bourdo didn’t file his papers of non-candidacy.
Michael Jones filed papers for the town supervisor election late Tuesday and Stute said early Friday afternoon she was waiting on papers from Jeff Trapp and Allen Curler for the position of supervisor. They have until 5 p.m. today to turn them in.
Bourdo said he would return to the political arena sometime in the future, possibly for the county supervisor seat next year, but right now needed to focus on his business.
“I haven’t been able to make all the meeting recently,” Bourdo said. “I took a new contract and it has me traveling a lot. I need to focus on my work right now, but I wanted to get the word out there that the position’s open and hopefully we can get someone good in there.”
There are four open seats on the board with incumbent Town Chairman John Kendall running again along with incumbent supervisors Kathleen Tober and Richard Calland.
Incumbent Clerk/Treasurer Stute is also running for re-election.
Village of East Troy
In the Village of East Troy, incumbents Randy Timms, board president, and Trustees Fred Douglas, Chris Gultch and Dusty Stanford have all filed to run again. Plan Commission Scott Seager has also filed candidacy papers. There are four open seats on the board this time around.
