JACKOB WERNITZNIG

Jackob “Jack” Wernitznig, 77, of East Troy, died Oct. 9, 2014. He was born in Milwaukee on May 22, 1937, to Paula (Neuhold) and Jacob Wernitznig.

He attended Custer High School and graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College with and engineering degree.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He made East Troy his home in 1990 and has been known as something of a socialite. He was well known in the community with his involvement in numerous groups and organizations, including past president of the East Troy Lions Club, past commander of the American Legion, East Troy Food Pantry coordinator, and a Meals on Wheels and Toys for Tots volunteer. He was also the grand marshal of the East Troy parade on one occasion

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Fishing, people, cooking and social events were some of his loves. He was known to some as “Mr. Welcome” at East Troy Manor.

Survivors include his children, Rita, Menomonee, Mich., Jack, West Allis, and Ann (Bradley) Flees, Milwaukee; grandchildren, Mark, David, Elizabeth, Joseph, Wesley and Kathryn; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Oliver, Charlie, Lincoln and Jack; sister, Mary Waranka, other relatives and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 1985, and his grandchildren Jennifer and Jacob.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1936 Emery St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A private entombment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.
