Jacob Los, 97, of Delavan, passed away Oct. 2, 2014, at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan.
He was born in Sugar Creek Township on May 24, 1917, to Peter and Hattie (Logterman) Los. Jacob was united in marriage to Alice Mensonides on Sept. 16, 1937, in Avon, S.D. Alice passed away on July 10, 2003.
Jacob was the owner and operator of Los Transfer and Storage (United Van Lines) in Delavan for 40 years. He was very active at Delavan Christian School at the Delavan Christian Reformed Church.
Jacob is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Greenfield, of Louisiana, Janice Los Drake, of Elkhorn, Lois (Russell) Lindholm, of Elkhorn, and Ruth (Thomas) Kravenas, of Darien; three sons, Harold Los, of Delavan, Frank (Joyce) Los, of Ogema, and Mel Los, of Delavan; 21 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren; three sisters, Leona, Etheleen and Joyce; three brothers, Wesley, Eugene and Calvin; and many nieces and nephews. Jacob is preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents; two brothers, Francis and Clarence; two daughters-in law, Roselyn and Carol; and a son-in-law, Larry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street, with the Rev. Dan Roeda officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Lake Geneva. Memorials can be directed to Delavan Christian School.
