Darrell W. Gleiter, 81, of Allens, passed away Sept. 12, 2014, at his home in Allens Grove. He was born on Sept. 18, 1932 in White, S.D., the son of Annis and Vivian (Jensen) Gleiter.
Darrell was united in marriage to Erma Gleiter on April 3, 1953, in North Carolina. Erma preceded him in passing on Dec. 4, 2006. He was a member of the Darien American Legion, and loved his card games, deer hunting, and being in the outdoors. Darrell served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn (David) Schutt, of Darien, and Belinda (Martin) Tillotson, of Janesville; sons, Darrell (Barbara) Gleiter, of Janesville and Joseph (Mia) Gleiter, of Williams Bay; one son-in-law, Kurtis Warren, of Janesville; 12 grandchildre, Douglas, Taryn, Ravyn, Nicholas, Jeremy, Melissa, Tashia, Devin, Drew, Joshua, Sonya and Jill; five great-grandchildren, Corey, Briseis, Gretchen, Mercedes and Luke; three sisters, Janette Meyers, Phyllis Loback, and Patricia (Richard) Teich; five brothers, Gustav (Shirley), Richard, Edward (Diane), Gerald and Clifford; and many nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife, Erma; his daughter, Barbara; his sister, Lois; his brother, Donald; and his grandson, John McNally.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 17 at Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at East Richmond Cemetery with full military honors.
