Roland Hanson, 81, of East Troy died Aug. 26, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 4, 1933, in Rockford, Ill., to Lloyd Bennett and Ella Marie (Larsen) Hanson.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer in the Korean War and Airman 1st class Active, 1951-55, and in the Reserves, 1955-59.
During his down time in the military he played football in Germany. He was a teacher of agriculture, FFA adviser, and the head football coach at the East Troy High School.
In college, He was an all-conference football tackle at he University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he received his Bachelor of Science and furthered his education with a master’s degree from UW-Madison.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie (nee Schultz); son, James; daughter, Jill; stepson, Robert; stepdaughter, Sherry; grandchildren, Brittani, Adam, Angel, Roland, Cole, Alicia and Ella; great-grandchild, Wyatt; sister, Marie; brothers, Lester and Lowel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends who love and will miss him.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon, and a stepson, Scott Norling.
Funeral services were Aug. 29 at Legacy Funeral Services, East Troy.
