Tracksters dominate home triangular

The Elkhorn Area High School girls track team won every event in varsity and junior varsity competition April 17 in a triangular meet with Williams Bay and Delavan-Darien at home.

“Although the Delavan program is in a rebuilding phase, the meet still gave us an opportunity to compete and to improve a lot of our seed times, distances and heights for our invitational at Brodhead next Friday (April 25),” Elks coach Steve Simonson said.

Williams Bay did not field a girls’ varsity squad in the triangular. The Elks defeated the Comets 168-56.

The Elkhorn boys won its triangular with a total of 148 points. Delavan-Darien scored 103 and Williams Bay eight.

Several Elks won multiple events. Bianca Tombley won the high jump with a winning effort of 4 feet, 8 inches. Trombley also won the long jump (13-3) and triple jump (29-9).

Trombley ran with Erika Sesing, Carleigh Ramos and Rachel Anderson on the Elks’ first-place 800-meter relay, which won in 1 minute, 57.80 seconds.

Anderson ran with Madyson Hrin, Payton Rushing and Caitlin Leahy on the Elks’ first-place 400 relay (56.30 seconds) and also won the 100 (13.30).

Anne Blackbourn won the 200 (29.00) and 400 (1:03.70) and ran with Bethany Buikema, Natalie Sesing and Maddie Barlow on the Elks’ first-place 1,600 relay (4:36.90).

Buikema, Taylor Mair, Amanda Robers and Barlow won the 3,200 relay (10:55.30). Mair also won the 800 (2:49.70) and 1,600 (5:58.20).

Madison Neinfeldt won the 100 hurdles (18.20) and Erika Sesing won the 300 hurdles (52.40). Maggie McGraw won the shot put (31-11.50) and Victoria Brossard won the discus (91-01). Jessica Reiff won the pole vault (7-6).

“We had a ton of great efforts in both the boys and girls meets,” Simonson said.

Dean El-Amin won the 110 hurdles (18.10) and 300 hurdles (47.20) for the Elks.

Besart Agushi, Malik Hall, Gerardo Camarillo and Tim Crum won the 400 relay (46.90) and Hall, Bryce Jensen, Chase Janaky and Alex Ramos won the 800 relay (1:40.50).

Agushi, Crum and Kevin and Richard Houcque won the 1,600 relay (3:41.80). Jacob Truesdale, Enrique Quijano, Arandu Huerta and Kyle Daehn won the 3,200 relay (10:01.50).

Steve Stukas won the shot put (40-9.5) and discus (128-3).Shane Piasecki won the high jump (5-2) and Jacob Schmidt won the pole vault (8-00). Janaky won the long jump (17-8) and Ramos won the triple jump (36-1).

Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the Southern Lakes Conference Relays, originally scheduled for April 15. The meet will not be rescheduled.

Elkhorn competes tomorrow in the Brodhead Invitational against Big Foot, Brodhead, Clinton, McFarland, Beloit Turner and Evansville at Brodhead High School.
