Man, 50, arrested in sex sting

Sheriff says man attempted to meet 15-year-old boy for sex

A 50-year-old Walworth County man was in the Racine County Jail Tuesday after being arrested as he allegedly attempted to meet who he thought was a 15-year-old boy for sex.

Ronald R. Niehus was arrested recently in an undercover sting operation conducted in western Racine County by the Sheriff’s Department, according to a press release issued by the department Tuesday.

Sheriff’s officials said Niehus traveled to a predetermined location to meet the boy after engaging in “sexually explicit” online conversation with investigators posing as the boy.

He was arrested without incident.

Sheriff’s investigators have requested charges of second-degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

The department declined to provide further information pending formal charges from the Racine County district attorney’s office.
