Illinois man charged with selling cocaine

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 14 for an Illinois man charged with selling cocaine in Lake Geneva.

Kevin M. Cooper, 42, of South Elgin, Ill., was charged Feb. 6 in two separate felony cases in Walworth County Circuit Court with four counts of delivering cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaints:

Cooper sold cocaine to a confidential informant in four controlled buys – 2.69 grams on July 25 at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Lake Geneva; 1.64 grams on Sept. 11 at Flanagan’s in the Town of Geneva; 1.93 grams Oct. 15 at Fat Cat’s Bar in Lake Geneva; and 3.32 grams on Dec. 10 at Foley’s Bar in the Town of Geneva.

During a traffic stop in Lake Geneva at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 1, Cooper was found with 5.6 grams of cocaine, marijuana and a “one-hitter.”
