DOROTHY BOERSMA

Dorothy Boersma, 83, of Delavan, died Jan. 27, 2014, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. She was born Feb. 20, 1930, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Tiete and Doetje Boersma.

She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Delavan. She loved singing in the church choir and was a member of the Calvary String and Band Chorus.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Sady (Gordon) Downing, of Delavan, and Marion (Tim) Scott, of Delavan; one son, Robert (Gloria) Botma, of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Renee (Jeremy) Downing-Lee, of California; Richard Downing of Delavan, Belinda Scott of Delavan, Brenda (Ferenc) Hausner of Williams Bay, and Abigail and Andrea Botma of Kenosha; two sisters, Tres (Wybe) Dykstra and Eke (Thys) Prins, both of the Netherlands; one sister-in-law, Gre Boersma, of the Netherlands and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Richard, one daughter, Vivian, and one brother, Durk Boersma.

Funeral services were Jan. 29 at Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan with the Rev. Dan Roeda officiating. Burial followed at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delavan Christian School or Congdon Gardens. Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan is assisting the family.
