Whitewater bakery gives back in a sweet way

The SweetSpot in downtown Whitewater has kicked off a month of giving.

The bakery and café will be baking and selling different cupcakes in September to support three causes.

From Sept. 1-10, the SweetSpot will be selling pupcakes (cupcake treats for dogs). All proceeds from the dog biscuit-topped cupcakes will benefit the Best Friends Animal Society’s annual “Strut your Mutt” fundraiser, which supports animal shelters across the country.

From Sept. 11-20, The SweetSpot will be selling chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with purple frosting to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

The final 10 days of the month, the bakery will sell teal cupcakes to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Wisconsin during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

“Giving back is so important to us as a small business, said SweetSpot owner and general manager, Lacey Reichwald. “The cool thing is, all three of these cupcake ideas come to us from customers who also love to make a difference. We couldn’t choose just one, so we want to celebrate all three.”

SweetSpot customers can also purchase paper hearts to benefit the American Heart Association throughout the month. Each heart supports The SweetSpot employee team’s goal of raising $1,000 for the Fort Atkinson/Whitewater Heart Walk on Oct. 7.

The SweetSpot is located at 226 W. Whitewater St.
