The Elkhorn girls swim team put up a number of solid swims Aug. 30, finishing second at the Southern Lakes Conference relays at Badger High School.

Host Badger won the meet with 228 points, followed by Elkhorn with 210 and the Burlington co-op with 203.

“I was pleased with how we did,” said coach Jamie Richardson. “We had some newcomers experience conference relays for the first time and they really stepped up and swam some great times.

“We posted a lot of best times and hopefully we can continue to drop more time as the season progresses.”

The Lady Elks finished with two conference relay champions.

In the very first event, the 200-yard medley relay team of Lilly Remington, Savanna Kreiser, Kady Ruemmele and Anne Blackbourn took first with a time of 1:58.17.

“I was impressed with the great time the girls posted for so early in the season,” said Richardson. “Kady posted her best time in her leg, dropping .56 seconds. She really looked strong.”
