Former police officer remembered for his work

Funeral services for former Elkhorn police officer Ray Otto, 63 will be held next Monday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory in Elkhorn.

Otto died Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Mercy Walworth Hospital and Medical Center.

He worked with the Elkhorn Police Department from 1972 to until he retired as a detective in 2005.

A former U.S. Marine  sergeant , Vietnam vet and Purple Heart recipient, Otto was a an avid hunter and fisherman who doted on his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter, three grandchildren, two siblings and other family and friends.
