Cross country teams compete at Ladish Invite

Freshman Madison Rosin leads East Troy runners

The East Troy High School girls cross country team finished eighth, while the boys were ninth, at last week’s annual Ladish Invitational.

New Berlin West won the girls’ team title with 78 points, followed by Jefferson with 94, Big Foot with 110, Evansville with 122 and Waukesha North with 145.

Rounding out the top 10 were Milton with 150 points, Brodhead-Juda with 161, East Troy with 178, Indian Trails with 196 and Elkhorn with 272. Kenosha Christian Life was 11th with 273, while Greendale was 12th with 287.

Delavan-Darien and Williams Bay had incomplete team scores.

Freshman Madison Rosin led the Trojans’ effort with a 13th-place finish in 17:45.9.

Other top runners for the East Troy girls were junior Erin Parr, 26th (18:28.3); junior Sarah Vivian, 33rd (19:06.4); senior Emily Ward, 46th (19:34.2); freshman Emmerson Dignan, 66th (20:35.5); and senior Emily Leising, 77th (21:16.2).

Christian Life’s Olivia Groeber won the overall individual title in 16:45.3.

On the boys’ side, Greendale was first overall with 55 points, followed by Jefferson with 72, Indian Trials with 80, Brodhead-Juda with 114 and Big Foot with 136.

Rounding out the top 10 were Evansville with 185 points, Christian Life with 193, Milton with 201, East Troy with 204 and Elkhorn with 263.

Williams Bay was 11th with 272 points, followed by Delavan-Darien with 293. New Berlin West had an incomplete team score.

Junior Casey Shepherd led East Troy in 26th place (19:29.2), followed by senior Nick Nolting, 32nd (19:58.4); sophomore Samuel Foley, 42nd (20:13.7); junior Tyler Fridley, 61st (21:15.4); senior Jon Woods, 62nd (21:17.6); freshman Kelcye DeMara, 64th (21:26.7); and sophomore Griffin Baker, 66th (21:29.1).

Christian Life’s Luke Versweyveld was first overall in 17:06.8.

East Troy’s girls JV squad was seventh with 147 points, while the boys were fourth with 97.

Senior Marcia Bisbee led the JV girls in 16th place (20:34.7), while sophomore Gabe Braam had the top JV boys’ effort in 13th place (20:49.6).

Both East Troy squads were back in action Tuesday afternoon at the Edgerton Invitational. East Troy travels to Ripon for an invitational Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
