Tennis team comes up short against Comets

The Elkhorn Area High School Tennis team opened its Southern Lakes Conference season Aug. 23 with a 6-1 loss to arch rival Delavan-Darien at Delavan.

The Elks’ victory came at No. 3 doubles, where Erika Sessing and Sam Price won their first conference match.

Haley Blum and at No. 2 singles and Margaret Koss and Alanna Welch at No. 1 doubles lost in tie-breakers.

“The whole team is improving fast,” Elks’ coach Donna Neshek said.

The Elks also participate in a quadrangular invite Aug. 25 at home against Janesville Parker, Waukesha North and Jacobs (Ill.).

The Elks’ No. 3 doubles team of Sessing and Price finished first. Blum, playing at No. 2 singles, finished second.

The Elks played Badger Tuesday at Lake Geneva in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet and Wilmot today at home, also in a SLC dual.
