Mercy to hold open house

Mercy Health System will hold a public open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 14 at its new Mercy Elkhorn Medical Center, 839 N. Washington St., Elkhorn.

The event features refreshments and free activities for kids and adults. Activities include behind-the-scenes tours of the new clinic, a meet-and-greet with staff and new physicians, tours of local emergency vehicles, healthy eating using MyPlate and other kids’ activities, and food provided by the Elkhorn Booster Club. Additionally, free health screenings—including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body fat, grip strength and bone density screenings—will be available without appointment.

The first 100 kids to attend the event get a free bike helmet. All kids can get a photo taken with StreetSmart, Mercy’s safety superhero and also partake in our Facebook Photobooth activity, where kids dress up in nurses’ and doctor’s gear, have their photo taken and posted on our Facebook page.

All guests are automatically registered to win a 42-inch LED TV or an Apple iPad.

Five chances to win will be given away every day from Tuesday, September 10 to Saturday, September 14 in a Facebook comment and win contest.  To win, “like” Mercy Elkhorn Medical Center’s fan page and comment on the question of the day. Comments will be randomly chosen for a chance to win an iPod. Commenters do not need to be present to win.

Those who aren’t able to attend may still follow the live Twitter tour of Mercy Elkhorn from 1-1:30 p.m. (CST) by visiting Twitter.com/mercyhealth, hashtag #ElkTour.
